Touchscreens are used in many systems including video lottery terminals, bartop games, jukeboxes and lottery ticket dispensing machines, in restaurants and casinos. Multiple games are possible on a single machine giving users the option to play poker, blackjack, solitaire, trivia, cricket and even finger painting. Industrial and Medical Instrumentation

Touch-based data access is simpler for operators as they do not need to use a keyboard or memorize software commands. Touchscreens save space, are more reliable and less expensive than panels of switches, dials, and buttons. Unlike keyboards, touch surfaces are smooth and flat, enabling cleaning using any standard dis-infectant, preventing accumulation of bacteria and microbes. Income Tax forms are available from touchscreen kiosks, along with information on how to fill them up. Other departments with complex formalities, such as Income Tax Bhopal, Customs, Excise, Sales Tax, are using touchscreen kiosks to give information to the public about forms, tariffs, deadlines, commonly asked queries.

Railway, Airline, Bus Terminals

Kiosks provide information on topics such as alcohol use, smoking, drugs, AIDS, hepatitis, diahorrea, family planning, in a non threatening, culturally relevant and easy to use manner, with a degree of anonymity. Used on World Aids Day in India.

Banks, Provident Fund, Post Office

User friendly touch systems allow customers to easily access information such as account balances, recent entries, loan & deposit schemes. An attached printer can print statements on demand.

Tourist Information

At Delhi airport, MicroTouch based kiosks give information on tourist attractions, hotels, transport. Maps show location and fares to major attractions like Red Fort, Connaught Place. Touch kiosks at Qutab Minar are a major new attraction, controlling a video camera on the top of the Qutab.

E-Governance
