Throughout its history,
MicroTouch has focused on innovative technologies that make using computers
as simple as touching the screen.
Gaming/Entertainment
Touchscreens are used in many systems including video
lottery terminals, bartop games, jukeboxes and lottery ticket dispensing
machines, in restaurants and casinos. Multiple games are possible on a
single machine giving users the option to play poker, blackjack, solitaire,
trivia, cricket and even finger painting. MicroTouch customers in the gaming
market include Bally, IGT, Merit, Silicon Gaming, Leisure Time, Powerhouse,
and WMS Gaming.
Industrial and Medical Instrumentation
Touch-based data access is simpler for operators as they do not need to use
a keyboard or memorize software commands. Touchscreens save space, are more
reliable and less expensive than panels of switches, dials, and buttons.
Unlike keyboards, touch surfaces are smooth and flat, enabling cleaning
using any standard dis-infectant, preventing accumulation of bacteria and
microbes. MicroTouch customers include Foxboro, Honeywell, Yokogawa,
Beckman, Westinghouse, Cedaron, MMI, Siemens & Zetler.
Financial Trading and ATMs
Touchscreens are replacing traditional push buttons on
ATM’s allowing for more features and selections to be represented on less
surface area. Information kiosks kept next to the ATMs provide a low cost
solution for giving account information. With simple-to-use menus, user
friendly touch systems allow customers to easily access account information.
Account balances, last debits/credits, are easily retrieved. A statement of
account can be printed on demand. In India, MicroTouch products are being
used in Citibank, HDFC Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, PNB, Bank of
Punjab
In deal capture systems, touchscreens are used to input trades directly into
the computer. In video-based phones, touchscreens replace large banks of
phone buttons. MicroTouch customers in the financial market include AMEX,
Compaq, Interbold, NYSE, Siemens, NCR, HCL, CMS.
Point-of-Sale (POS) Terminals
Touch-based POS terminals are preferred over traditional cash registers
because they are faster, reduce operator errors and training time, and
improve productivity. Cashiers can easily touch select items such as fruits
and vegetables that cannot be bar-coded. Open-system POS terminals using
standard PC’s and MicroTouch touchscreens give all the above advantages, in
addition to being simple to maintain or re-configure, and being easily
linked to reporting systems, loyalty systems, etc. MicroTouch POS partners
include IBM, NCR, Par Microsystems, ElectraLogics, Scansource, Hospitality
Inc, POSitouch, and Progressive Software. End users include Applebee's,
Burger King, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Lowe's, Taco Bell, Starbucks, PVR
Priya.

Income Tax forms are available from touchscreen kiosks, along with

formalities, such as Income Tax Bhopal, Customs, Excise, Sales Tax, are
using touchscreen kiosks to give information to the public about forms,
tariffs, deadlines, commonly asked queries.

e-governance initiative in many states. Land records, details of government
schemes, applications for birth certificates, are some of the applications
in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and several other states.
Employee Training & Benefits
Businesses and Governments are using kiosks as part of intranets to provide
information on employee benefits. Kiosks are being used for imparting safety
training, and in electronic notice boards on corporate intranets.
Multimedia Kiosks
Information and transaction-based kiosks, are two of the fastest growing
markets for touchscreens. Kiosks are used in both public and commercial
sectors to provide information, sell products, lower costs. Information
kiosks are often used in public locations such as tourist areas, museums,
and shopping centers. Transaction-based kiosks are used to dispense tickets,
coupons, and merchandise
Kiosks in retailing
MicroTouch allows you to reach the
customer without the inconvenience of them having to come to you. Touch
kiosks can be strategically placed in almost any location. Kiosks take up
less than 4 sq.ft of real estate, operate 24 hours a day, require no
supervision, have nominal running expenses and require little maintenance.
They are ideal for ’mom and pop’ type grocery stores. Customers visit their
local store and order goods (if not in stock). An online connection sends
the order to the regional office or headquarters which delivers the goods
the next morning to the shopkeeper for onward delivery to the customer.
